A new teaching block, complete with eight general classrooms, a science room and an ICT suite, was commissioned by St Cedd’s School as part of their relocation to New London Road, Chelmsford in 2011.
The design aimed to reduce the perceived scale of the building by creating a series of closely linked, curved roof geometries, whilst accommodating significant level changes across the site. Externally, the walls were part rendered, and partly clad in cedar boarding, with the finished building achieving a BREEAM rating of “very good”.
