This development involved the refurbishment and extension of a pair of late 19th century villas in the conservation area of New London Road, Chelmsford, which were already being used as offices.
The rear extension is a three-storey structure of open-plan design, which seeks to reflect some detailing and character of the villas, whilst creating a building with a distinctly contemporary appearance. In order not to conflict with the scale of the original Victorian architecture, the second floor of the extension was designed largely in glass and with a flat roof, minimising its effect on the roofscape.
